Graduate Admissions
Completed applications should be submitted online to the Graduate Office before the December 1st deadline, for entrance the following September. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.
Successful candidates often have in common:
- a grade point average in the top 5% of their undergraduate class, strong letters of recommendation
- a passion for research as demonstrated by active participation in undergraduate research
GRE scores are not required. Absence of GRE scores will not be negatively considered for otherwise qualified applicants. If an applicant believes that GRE scores strengthen the application and chooses to submit them, submitted GRE scores will be considered.

Students with an interest in medical research may wish to consider the joint MD/PhD programs with UCLA and USC, which award a PhD from Caltech and an MD from either UCLA or USC.
